Jean Michel Basquiat was an artist of his time. True artist says Traver Dodorye. Jeans paintings defined a dark part of his life he went through. Part of his life that not too many could relate to. Even people who are close to most artists don't know what they feel most of the time because after a while we tend to leave our feelings on of work. Jean had to deal with a lot from abandonment, to parents getting a divorce, to being hit by a car as a kid, all which led him to become a drug abuser. Then along came Andy Warhol who filled this empty space in jeans life. Andy open a lot of doors for Basquiat but later Warhol passed away. Thats when Basquiat went back down that dark alley and eventually committed suicide. An artists work cannot only tell you who an artist is but also what they have been through. His legacy lives on today. Traver says he has never seen so many people show basquiat respect like he has seen in these recent days. Artists representing him and wearing his shirts clothing companies and shoe brands doing Basquiat edition shirts and hats and shoes. The hardest thing for me to admit is that as an artist most of us don't get recognition until we die!
